WALKING
FOR PEACE by Maria Elena Vinader |

I am happy to share with you the experience of walking for Peace in Posadas, Misiones, Argentina. This is the first demonstration that I organized here and it was great to see the spirit of collaboration. Although it was small in numbers I think it was big in significance. There were families, with children who participated in drawing on the floor about peace and then we started the walk by the Parana River under a full moon, clapping and chanting. A friend made a beautiful banner which said, "Walking for World Peace.
Then we gathered at a special view point and I spoke about the present situation and how important it was that we were united with the whole world who wants peace. I played the Tibetan singing bowl and then a young girl from an association Yoga for Peace made a demonstration. Because they didn't have any musical equipment I improvised on my marimba which was already part of the gathering. There were also representatives of the Association for Human Rights and from a Buddhist group. We got coverage from the two local newspapers and I was invited to several radio programs. Earlier I also was on the local T.V. to invite people and this generated an opportunity to raise awareness about what we can do to "evolve" as a civilization who wants to experience the "Right" for Peace and Justice. At the same time we are working with another friend who is a theater director on the Lysistratista project. Thanks to the web we can support each other and share our experiences. Amani and Mapendo (I love the music in these words.) |
